Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Thursday, September 25, 2008 – updated: 10:32 pm PDT October 9, 2008

Every day in Washington state, 11 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and two of them will lose their struggle.

This year, over 4000 in our state will hear the words, “You have breast cancer.”

KIRO 7 is proud to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on Saturday, October 11, at Stadium High School in Tacoma. Together, we will make a difference.

With the American Cancer Society, we walk to celebrate all breast cancer survivors and provide hope to every person affected by this disease. We walk because fewer women age 40 and older had their yearly mammograms last year and because many still do not have access to care. We walk because we know that hope starts with us. And with you.

There is no registration fee or minimum contribution required to participate in this noncompetitive 5k walk. Visit Making Strides. for more information and to sign up. Thank you for your support.

All funds raised from the October strides in Bellevue, Everett and Tacoma stay in the Puget Sound area to fund local research, breast cancer screenings for the underserved, and programs for those newly diagnosed or breast cancer survivors.

For more information, go to Making Strides.

Sponsored by Swedish Cancer Institute, Overlake Hospital Medical Center, and the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership.
