Family Escapes Cougar Mountain House Fire

A family escaped a burning home that sent a plume of smoke into the sky over Cougar Mountain early Tuesday morning, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Residents told reporter Rick Price they awoke to find flames at about 5 a.m.

"The rug was on fire, so I ran to get some water. By the time I got back with the water, it had started up. So I ran and called 911," said Carolyn Zirckle.

Video from Chopper 7 showed a smoke plume that was visible for miles near the home in the 15800 block of Southeast 43rd Place, a narrow cul de sac on the mountain in Bellevue. Video showed fire engines, a ladder truck and other emergency vehicles in the area.
