'Idol' McPhee Gets Movie Role
Singer Will Star In Independent Dark Romantic Comedy

LOS ANGELES -- "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee is taking her first steps toward becoming a screen idol.According to the Hollywood Reporter, McPhee will star in the independently produced dark romantic comedy "The Last Caller."She will play a self-obsessed woman who looks for love and meaning through random events with other people.McPhee said that "The Last Caller" script was the first that she's read that she really wanted to do.The role will not require her to sing, the Reporter said.McPhee finished runner-up to Taylor Hicks in the fifth season of "American Idol." She released her self-titled debut album earlier this year.
