Singer Natalie Cole has been released from the hospital following her kidney transplant, just in time to attend her sister's funeral.

According to People magazine, Cole, 59, was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, five days following the procedure.

The magazine said that the singer planned to attend her sister Carol "Cookie" Cole's funeral on Monday. Carol Cole died from lung cancer the same day Natalie Cole received her life-saving transplant.

Natalie Cole had been undergoing kidney dialysis three times a week following complications from her treatment for hepatitis C, People said.

She is expected to spend three to four months recuperating, the magazine said.
