Concorde Arrives In Seattle

SEATTLE -- The Concorde has landed in Seattle.
About 1,000 people were waiting to see the final flight of
the plane. After it came to a stop pilots waved British and
American flags from the cockpit windows.
The droop-nosed plane is going on display at the Museum of
Flight. This plane first flew in 1978. It flew its last commercial
flight for British Airways last month from New York to London. The
airline retired all of its Concordes, and Air France stopped flying
the plane in May because they are too costly to fly and maintain. Only 20 Concordes were built and 18 still exist. The Seattle Concorde will be parked at the Museum of Flight's
ramp until about Nov. 15. The museum plans to open the jet
for tours by museum members on Nov. 22. The public may tour
the Concorde starting Nov. 28.
