ASLA member discount requires ASLA member number.   4.0 LA CES PDHThis professional workshop is intended for landscape architects and designers seeking to increase their contribution to teams designing extensive green roofs and living walls.  It will cover history, basic assembly and benefits, decks, loads, waterproofing, growth media, geotextiles, plants, irrigation, installation issues and maintenance.  The instructor will share a range of precedents that illustrate key strategies and pitfalls to green roof and living walls design. This course is appropriate for those with some exposure to the topics through experience or study. While this is course is not an introduction, it is not intended as preparation for the Green Roof Professional Exam. The course will offer the following takeaways to help increase the participant’s understanding of this complex and evolving design environment:·         Understand green roof and living wall systems;·         Know the qualifications of a skilled design team;·         Learn the technical and research tools available to assist with design;·         Be able to compare various components, design and installation strategies;·         Learn key aspects of maintenance guidelines.About the Instructor:Patrick Carey has worked in the field of architecture for over 20 years. His company, Hadj Design, has completed over 50 green roof projects to date.
