A large part of who we are is defined by where we live. It is also a fundamental element of our overall well-being. Whether or not we are fortunate enough to choose our neighborhood, it can have a profound impact on our economic opportunities, our children’s education and even our basic health. Inspired by our Making of a Candidate series of forums in 2010, CityClub will host a forum on the Making of a Neighborhood. We will explore what elements are necessary to create a truly great, urban neighborhood—from schools and housing, to transit, walkability and economic vitality, to socioeconomic diversity and crime prevention. The conversation will also include what it takes for residents to help shape their neighborhoods, so they can have a say in the ongoing dialogue about how Seattle neighborhoods are changing.
