This training is designed for people who want to volunteer for the Genesis Project. However, those who want to learn more about sex trafficking in this area and what The Genesis Project is doing about it are welcome as well!The training will be conducted by GP President Deputy Andy Conner, and board members Detective Joel Banks and Detective Brian Taylor from the SeaTac Street Crimes Unit. Topics covered will be the pimping culture in the Seattle area, types of trafficking situations, case studies of specific trafficking cases, experiences of victims, what the Genesis Project does to help them, and more.To volunteer in the center itself requires this initial training, a background check, as well as our advanced training. Due to the nature of the issue of sex trafficking, only women may volunteer in the center. Women interested in volunteering in the center must attend the entire training to be eligible as a volunteer. Applications and background check forms will be available to fill out that day.Limited volunteer opportunities are also available for both men and women in other areas, such as fundraising events and maintenence. These kinds of volunteer opportunities do not require the advanced training or background checks.Please choose your ticket based on your situation. If you are a woman and would like to apply to volunteer in the center, please choose the option including the background check. They do cost us money to run, which is why we ask for additional payment. However, if you are coming for information only, or to volunteer in other capacities, we are asking for a $10 donation to cover the costs of the training. If you are unsure on whether you would like to volunteer in the center, you may choose the $10 option and pay an additional $10 should you decide to apply and have the background check run. **UPDATE We ran out of space in our meeting room!
