Seattle Theatre Group and Balagan Theatre present Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the historic Moore Theatre, January 15 - 27, 2013.Directed by Ian Bell, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is the story of an East Berlin born rock-and-roll goddess Hedwig Schmidt, a botched sex change, stolen music and love affair with an American GI. Rising star Jerick Hoffer (most recently seen in the role of Angel in the 5th Avenue production of RENT) portrays Hedwig as she recounts her outrageous life story as the lead singer in a sleazy lounge act, backed by her rock-and-roll band “The Angry Inch.”Hoffer (Hedwig) has also been seen on stage at Balagan (Spring Awakening), Book-it Repertory Theatre (Red Ranger Came Calling), and Seattle Shakespeare Company (Threepenny Opera). A recent graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, the role of Hedwig is a perfect fit for Hoffer, also known to many in Seattle as preeminent drag queen chanteuse Jinkx Monsoon, host of the popular An Evening at Le Faux weekly celebrity impersonation show at Julia’s on Broadway.Hedwig is directed by Ian Bell, renowned local actor, director, and creator of Seattle Confidential (ACT Central Heating Lab) and The Brown Derby Series (Re-bar). Bell spent 10 years as Artistic Director of theatre group Bald Faced Lie and four years as Producing Director for Re-bar.
