Band members are Gabriel Mark Hasselbach (trumpet, flutes, flugelhorn, trombone, and digital winds), Adam Armijo (guitar), Blackie (keyboards), Vernon Barbary (bass) and Don Powrie (drums). Show times Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm each night.Gabriel delivers a fiery hot follow-up to his award winning, 2010 album Told Ya So. After winning "Album of the Year" and "Instrumentalist of the Year" at the 2011 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, he knew he had to return with a burner! Kissed By The Sun is already well positioned on the Billboard and SmoothJazz.com charts, and is infused with the top flight writing, playing, and production skills of chart topping jazz icon Jeff Lorber, and features stellar guests such as Chuck Loeb, Brian Bromberg, Rock Hendricks (Paul Hardcastle), and Billboard stalwarts, fellow Canadians guitarist Rob Tardik & tenor saxist, Walle Larsson. Although he has had notable straight ahead jazz successes, including a languorous eight-week run on the Jazz Week Mainstream charts, Gabriel prefers the more rhythmically succinct domain of contemporary jazz. "I like the variety of color and texture that Contemporary Jazz .... Smooth Jazz if you must ..... has to offer, because it is definitely music for your heart, head, as well as feet", Gabriel was quoted as saying in a recent TV interview. The improvisational content of Gabriel's playing is rich but concise, drawing from the Blue Mitchell/ Donald Byrd canon, and his style is highly listenable to all.To date, Hasselbach celebrates multiple award recognition including a JUNO Award (Canadian equivalent of a Grammy), two JUNO/Technics "All Star Band" awards, a West Coast Music Award, a Jazz In The Park "Best Instrumental Performance" award, an Ampex Golden Reel Award, and several gold and platinum albums to his credit (with his earlier group Powder Blues and others), and the 2011 "Album of the Year" and "Instrumentalist of the Year" awards at the Canadian Smoothies. He also cracked the Billboard Top 50 with the album Told Ya So. Gabriel has recorded or performed with the likes of such varied artists as Michael Bublé (Gabriel performed with him extensively, recorded several albums with him, and produced the MB album 'Dream'), Bob James, Jeff Lorber, Ernie Watts, Little Richard, George Benson, John Denver, The O'Jays, Ben E King, Paul Brown, Heart, Nikki Yanofsky, John Lee Hooker, and Long John Baldry. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, he followed his muse to Vancouver, Canada in the 70's, where he has been based until his recent explosion on the World Stage. His many albums have withstood the test of time, and steadily built up his body of work, finally drawing the broader worldwide attention he deserves. This is a pre-sale show with reserved seating. All purchases are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Vouchers, donated gift certificates, student, senior and military discounts, children under 12 free discounts and 2 for 1 cards are not applicable for this show. All shows are all ages. Jazz Alley is a seated supper club, not a dance hall. Dining is optional. $10.00
