For more information on the individual concerts please consult the Musica Sacra Chamber Chorale website. http://www.musicasacrachamberchorale.com In celebration of the centennial of Benjamin Britten in 2013, the 16 member Musica Sacra Chamber Chorale will present a series of three concerts including selected acapella choral works of this wonderful composer as well as other works from the English Choral tradition. Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) was perhaps the greatest English composer of the 20th century. As well as contributing to a revival of interest in native operas, which his works still dominate, Britten wrote a number of sacred acapella choral works. This concert series will feature examples of Britten’s acapella sacred choral works, taken from his different periods and performed in the kind of sacred spaces for which they were originally intended. For the opening concert of the spring 2013 series the Chorale returns to the delightful Sanctuary at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in the University District in Seattle. This concert is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The same program will be presented the following weekend. On Friday, Apr 26, 2013 the Chorale moves to the wonderful Holy Rosary Catholic Church Sanctuary in West Seattle and its atmosphere of grandeur and elegance and presents the concert at 7:30 PM. On Sunday, Apr 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the afternoon, the Chorale has selected the delightful Sanctuary at St Luke's Lutheran Church in Bellevue with its comfortable, intimate space for their final concert of the series and the 2012-2013 season.
