Are you a K-8 teacher interested in teaching your students outside? Are you looking for meaningful ways to use your schoolyard as a natural classroom? In this workshop, you will learn skills, strategies, and content information to plan and teach an outdoor science field study in your schoolyard. Join the education team from IslandWood at the Washington Park Arboretum as we explore: -The benefits of outdoor education-Common plants and animals found in a typical schoolyard-How to develop an effective field study question-Strategies and logistics for teaching students outside. Bring ideas of where you want to integrate outdoor education in your science lessons. We will have time for brainstorming and planning throughout the session. Dinner will be provided. Clock hours are available from the Puget Sound ESD.
