Edible Wetlands: a delicious guide to designing with water. A Rain Garden is a wonderful way to protect Puget Sound from toxins in our collective storm water runoff from roads and roofs.  Using native and drought tolerant plants, rain gardens retain and filter storm water runoff.  Rain gardens are a beautiful and sustainable feature for your yard and can be the perfect habitat for edibles like blueberries, huckleberries, elder berries, and more. Learn how to create an appropriate feature for your yard. The possibility exists for some planting of edible plants in an actual rain garden setting. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions.Faculty: Jake Harris, Owner, Stone Soup Gardens   Jake Harris is owner of Stone Soup Gardens, a full service landscaping company that specializes in edible landscaping.  Stone Soup Gardens builds beautiful urban farms, chicken coops, honeyscapes, and rain gardens.  Stone Soup Gardens is a certified rain garden installer through Seattle Public Utilities’ Rainwise program.  Stone Soup Gardens teaches on-going classes for chicken rearing, seasonal vegetable growth, rain gardens and for individuals, businesses, and community groups like Seattle Tilth, Readers to Eaters, and NW SolarFest.  Jake enjoys using gardens to inspire joy and social change.21 Acres Member Discount: To become a member and/or to receive your member discount on this class, register by contacting Deb at 425-481-1500 or deb@21acres.org.
