In-person and online: designing teaching and learning for the best of both worlds Andreas Brockhaus, Director of Learning Technologies at UW Bothell Technology is having a radical effect on teaching and learning. From MOOCs to flipped classrooms, YouTube to eTextbooks, virtual communities to social networks, technology is transforming education and educational institutes. Amid all of the hype, hybrid learning is quietly becoming an early contender for the mode of teaching that has the most potential to improve student learning. In this workshop, we’ll look at different modes of learning and success and challenges of each. We’ll look at some of the research on hybrid learning, discuss how classroom instruction can be designed to take advantage of both the online and in-person world and examine efforts on college campuses to help faculty redesign courses.
