On Friday, February 1st from 5-6pm the Schack Art Center will be hosting a free lecture with internationally known textile and fiber artist, author, and educator Gail Harker.Gail Harker’s knowledge of color, with the ability to communicate and guide, has made her one of the leading teachers in her field. More than 1,500 artists have studied at her Center for Creative Arts in LaConner, WA , which offers professional certificate and diploma programs in design and stitch. Several students have gone on to win national and international recognition, and forty advanced students are currently featured in the exhibit "Complex Threads" at the Schack Art Center through February 16.Her lecture at the Schack will focus on the way the world around us supplies artists with a rich panoply of colors, textures, lines and shapes ripe with seeds of inspiration. Gail will share and talk about distilling the essence of an inspiration, simplifying it and using the elements of design in an exploratory and imaginative manner that is relatable to anyone. Many examples will be provided in the accompanying slide show.Lecture if FREE to the public.
