Description: On a chill, bright morning, a polar bear cub awakes inside her cozy den. She hears the seagulls' far-away calls and clambers out into the day. Suddenly a snowy something tumbles down a little snow hill. She sees a snowy face, snowy paws, and snowy fur. What can it be? Thrilling words and glowing pictures make this morning-time tale of first friendship as satisfying as a warm hug. Savage is known for his economical style of illustration that conveys complex ideas and emotion with simple lines and color. His editorial illustration has appeared in dozens of major newspapers and magazines including the New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. In 2008, he was the recipient of a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and their daughter.
