The sixth annual Urban Poverty Forum exists to open a dialogue around the systemic issues surrounding urban poverty, and to unite a diverse community of care-including faith-based organizations, nonprofits, and concerned citizens-in addressing problems faced by the poorest among us. This year's forum, focusing on Northwest tribal members in Seattle and on nearby reservations who still face conditions of poverty after centuries of oppression, features Chris Stearns of the Seattle Human Rights Commission, who practices Native American law with Hobbs, Straus, Dean & Walker and helped co-found Native Vote Washington, and Cecile Hansen, the elected chair of the Duwamish Tribe, the great-great grandniece of Chief Si'ahl, and a founder and president of Duwamish Tribal Services. Presented by Real Change News and Mahogany Project with Town Hall.
