Lending Circles is Coming to Washington State - Feb 20th     Low-income communities across America are living in financial invisibility - stuck on the financial fringes, where payday lenders and check cashers abound - simply because they don't have access to responsible financial tools and support. But what they do have? Each-other. At Mission Asset Fund, we believe in using social capital to lift up individuals and communities.  That's why, in 2008, we started the Lending Circles program. This award-winning program successfully combats financial exclusion for low-income populations. Based on the tradition of peer lending common in low-income communities around the world, participants enter into a social loan that is reported to major credit bureaus. Paired with financial education, this model has achieved great success in helping low-income adults overcome financial exclusion by building credit scores, gaining practical loan experience, and increasing financial capability.    Just five years ago, we worked in one small neighborhood in San Francisco. But over the last two years, we've started working with nonprofit partners across the country. And now we're proud to be expanding Lending Circles to Washington State with our first two partners - El Centro De La Raza and 21 Progress. Come join us for a presentation about Lending Circles and Lending Circles for DREAMers. Friends and colleagues welcome - please forward widely!  Light refreshments provided.
