Location: 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living
It?s all about the birds! From proper space and breed considerations, to nesting boxes and chicken runs, this class will address the necessary elements for designing, building, and maintaining a healthy environment for your flock.
Participants will learn about the necessary elements of design, yard space considerations for breed and flock size, and materials for construction.
The class will go outside to visit the chickens and use for the class discussion. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
Instructor:
Jake Harris is owner of Stone Soup Gardens, a full service landscaping company that specializes in edible landscaping. Stone Soup Gardens builds beautiful urban farms, chicken coops, honeyscapes, and rain gardens. Stone Soup Gardens is a certified rain garden installer through Seattle Public Utilities? Rainwise program. Stone Soup Gardens teaches on-going classes for chicken rearing, seasonal vegetable growth, rain gardens and for individuals, businesses, and community groups like Seattle Tilth, Readers to Eaters, and NW SolarFest. Jake enjoys using gardens to inspire joy and social change.
