The Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Social Purpose Corporation Part of the HUB Seattle Education Series This workshop is designed for all levels of social entrepreneurs. The overall goal of the workshop is to help social entrepreneurs learn about the business/legal processes behind a social venture. Here are some of the specific goals of the workshop:Business Planning and Strategy for Social Purpose StartupsChoosing the Right Entity - SPC’s, Non-Profits, Private Foundations, Social Trusts, and Co-opsIn Depth Social Purpose Corporation Analysis and Step-by-step playbookFinancing and Selling your Social Purpose Startup, including convertible note arrangements and setting up business trusts to continue your social impactNavigating Washington’s fundraising regulations Day One - Taking your Social Purpose to the Marketplace (March 11th, 2-3.30pm)On day one, we will focus on the early stages of identifying your social purpose and strategizing in today’s social purpose framework. Participants will understand how to choose a legal entity that aligns with their social purpose, form a social purpose corporation, and open their doors to the public. Participants will receive a step-by-step guide to forming a Social Purpose Corporation in Washington.
Day Two - Raising Money and Maximizing your Social Purpose (March 14th, 2-3.30pm)On day two we will focus on the panoply of issues arising out of raising money for a Social Purpose Corporation, including issuing stock options, onboarding an angel investor, and public fundraising in the Washington marketplace.Finally, we will focus on establishing a due diligence culture (not as boring as it sounds), so you can keep your ducks in a row while you change the world!
