Join the 50 singers of The Sanctuary Choir and chamber orchestra for an evening of choral masterworks in THE PASSION, a sacred concert on Good Friday on March 29th at 7:30.
The drama inherent in the story of Jesus' betrayal, arrest, trial, and death begs for musical setting. Unlike many passion settings by a single composer, THE PASSION incorporates some of the greatest choral motets from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and modern eras. Music alternates with readings and the sanctuary grows increasingly dark as the crucifixion grows closer.
Selections include J.S. Bach's Crucifixus from Mass in B Minor, Handel's He Trusted in God from Messiah, Mendelssohn's Jerusalem from St. Paul and motets by Brahms, Vivaldi, Croce, Poulenc, Carissmi and Maunder.
The concert is free; no tickets are required. Limited free parking and childcare is available.
A ramp entrance to the sanctuary is available off the parking lot and an elevator is available off Harvard Avenue.
