Downtown to Defiance: Sunday Parkways

Bike, walk, run, roll from Downtown Tacoma to Point Defiance Park.
Join us for fun fitness activities at several parks along Ruston Way and a celebration in Point Defiance bowl of a decade long dream come true: a waterfront trail system connecting downtown Tacoma to Point Defiance Park.
Rides for all ages and abilities!
7:30am Pre-event gathering and bike staging
8:00am Tacoma Wheelmen’s Bicycle Club 25-mile and 45-mile bike ride. Must register with the Club: twbc.org.
8:05am VeloFemmes Women's Ride: Open to all women riders.(facebook.com/VeloFemmes)
8:15am Community members leave Tacoma Dome, along with elected officials on a 14-person human being pedal-powered pedalounge.
Activities for all
Parks stops along the way will feature arts, environment, and health and wellness information and activities. Stop for water, the restroom, or just stretch your legs. Local bike shops will be stationed along the route at the park stops and provide complimentary, basic bike support to keep you moving along the route.
Meet up starting at 7:30am to check out the cool bikes and decorated helmets gathered just for this fun event. Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. If you choose to park in the Tacoma Dome lot, keep in mind height restrictions if your bikes are on a roof rack.
Express Yourself! through activities hosted by Metro Arts
Check out chalk art and yarn-bomb bikes. Decorate your bike with a personalized flag and license plate.
Dickman Mill Park
Explore Your Environment! with the Tacoma Nature Center
Take a breather and learn about salmon, green cleaning, recycling, and restoration of this waterfront park.
Exert Your Energy!
Treat yourself to a break and some stretching, zumba and nutrition and healthy living information.
Point Defiance Park
Meet up in the bowl to celebrate the opening of the trail with music, games, bouncy houses, activities, food and beverages.
Kids age 12 and younger, and their adult companions, can join the Point to Point Kids Ride with Kidical Mass and pedal from Point Defiance Park down to the Point Ruston playground, and back. Participants receive a FREE iced fruit bar from Hilltop Pops.
