Join the arts community at the Shilshole Bay Beach Club as the Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA) throws its 21st Annual Marathon & Auction!The celebration and fundraising event launches 9am Thursday, November 14 with 24 hours of controlled chaos as 21 emerging and established artists paint, draw, wax, construct, collage, spray, write and sculpt their way to creating nearly 100 new works of art. Everyone is welcome to come watch the artists in action.From 7-9pm, join the ongoing cacophony at the Artists Appreciation Party. Meet the artists, get a peek at the work in progress and enjoy light refreshments. Admission and parking are free.The festivities continue on Friday, November 15 when doors open at 5:30pm for CoCA’s infamous silent and live auctions with auctioneer Matt Smith, beverages from 3 Howls Distillery and Elysian Brewing, a sumptuous seated dinner hosted by Apulent Events & Catering, and enthralling entertainment throughout.The art auction will feature paintings, sculptures, mixed-media assemblages, prints and more by artists including Seb Barnett, Lyle Carbajal, Casey Curran, Jessica Dodge, Aaron Filion, David Francis, Anne Marie Grgich, Ronald L. Hall, Noako Morisawa, Natalie Niblack and Siolo Thompson. New artists are being announced daily, please check the CoCA website for details.Why support CoCA? For almost 35 years, CoCA has been one of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic arts organizations, with a colorful local history and a solid national reputation that continues to grow. The Board recently launched a strategic plan for greater financial sustainability in order to better meet CoCA's mission to support contemporary artists. The priority is to hire a full time Executive Director so that the Board can focus on ground breaking programming, fundraising and governance. Want to learn more?
