Deadline To Claim Child Tax Credits Looming
IRS: Credits Total $50 Million

Time is running to get the income tax refund or child tax credit owed to you.
Friday is the deadline for claiming checks for the child tax credit, which total $50 million.
The Internal Revenue Service sent out 24 million checks last summer, but 115,000 were returned to them as undeliverable.
"People have moved and haven't left a forwarding address with us. Another reason is their name is illegible on their return or incorrect on their tax return," said Pat Brummer, an IRS representative.
After Friday, taxpayers must wait to claim the money when they file tax returns early next year.
"All we need is a good address," IRS Commissioner Mark Everson said. "As soon as we get the correct address we can start the check on its way. I urge taxpayers to act before Dec. 5 for the advance payments so we can reissue the checks before the end of the year."
