A washed out bridge about four miles north of Bremerton has stranded the residents of the Kitsap County town of Chico, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The town received 10 inches of rain Monday, causing water levels in Chico Creek that were too high for the bridge to withstand.

One end of the bridge dropped 10 feet after it was undercut by the creek. The north side of the bridge then collapsed and washed away.

The 14 homes along the creek have been evacuated. One house is on the verge of falling into the creek.

The North Lake Way Bridge in Kitsap County is also closed.
