Local Chefs, Restaurants Among Semifinalists For James Beard Awards

If you're looking for a good Valentine's Day restaurant, a prestigious organization just named the semifinalists for best restaurants in the country.

The James Beard Foundation named several Washington chefs and restaurants.

Tom Douglas, who owns Dahlia Lounge, Palace Kitchen and several others in Seattle, is a semifinalist for outstanding restaurateur.

Tamara Murphy of Brasa in Seattle is a semifinalist for outstanding chef.

Rachel Yang of Joule is a candidate for rising star chef of the year

Poppy and Spinasse in Seattle are in the running for best new restaurant.

And James Miller at Cafe Besalu is in the running for best pastry chef.

Canlis is a semifinalist for outstanding wine service.

Alex Golitzin of Quilceda Creek in Snohomish is up for outstanding wine and spirits professional.

In the area of Outstanding Service, Canlis and Café Juanita of Kirkland are semifinalists.

For Best Chef: Northwest, here are the semifinalists:
