Local Business Wins Green Washington Award
Woodinville Printer Earns Green Award for Its Outstanding Environmental Leadership and Actions
On May 21, 2008, Washington CEO Magazine awarded 25 outstanding Washington companies at the Green Washington Awards. PrintWest, Inc. of Woodinville was proud to be the only commercial printer recognized out of 140 total contestants. And even prouder still to have won the Runner Up Award in the Manufacturing Category. This prestigious award celebrates businesses and organizations that have found innovative ways to operate in an environmentally sustainable manner.PrintWest, Inc. has a long time reputation for being an environmentally-friendly business. Three years ago, they began a search to see what else could be done to be even more environmentally conscience. During that journey, they discovered and explored many Green initiatives, including:FSC: Forest Stewardship Council – PrintWest took the necessary steps to earn certification, insuring that their paper supplies come from sustainable and properly managed forests.Recycling – PrintWest researched and implemented a comprehensive recycling program with the immediate goal of recycling 90% of their waste products and the ultimate goal of zero waste.Supporting Local Businesses – PrintWest purchases from local manufacturers whenever possible, minimizing transportation pollution associated with sourcing paper for their presses and returning business dollars to the community.These are just a few of the Green initiatives PrintWest has implemented, resulting in a significant reduction of their carbon footprint.PrintWest has also introduced the Green Assist Program (G.A.P.). The Green Assist Program is a resource PrintWest has made available to like-minded businesses. G.A.P. offers information on how to become a green company, and is designed to share resources and research.
