Villegas And Watson Win CVS Charity Classic

POSTED: 4:02 pm PDT June 24, 2008

(Sports Network) - Camilo Villegas and Bubba Watson won the CVS Charity Classic on Tuesday, but needed a three-hole playoff to earn the victory.

There was a weather delay of almost three and a half hours on Tuesday, so the decision was made to have the playoff with the four teams tied after 10 holes at Rhode Island Country Club.

Watson and Villegas finished the three-hole playoff at three-under par.

Paul Goydos and Tim Herron came in at minus-one in the playoff and tied with U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate and Brandt Snedeker.

Davis Love III and Billy Andrade only managed to shoot even-par in the playoff.

The four teams were tied at 15-under par through 28 holes when the heavy rain hit.

Villegas and Watson, the first-round leaders, split $300,000 for the win.

"It's all about charity," said Watson, who donated $10,000 of his check to the tournament. "I know it helps Rhode Island a lot."
