Snow Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass is one of our favorite hikes within a short drive from Seattle.

The problem is a lot of other hikers also consider it a favorite.

To enjoy a Snow Lake adventure to its fullest, we recommend planning a hike during the week -- not the weekend-- to avoid the large crowds.

From Seattle, take Interstate 90 east to exit 52. Turn left, then right after one-quarter of a mile and drive to the Alpental Ski Parking Lot.
