OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Thurston County prosecutors may file assault charges against a man accused of having unprotected sex with women, knowing he has the virus that causes AIDS.

Olympia police arrested 24-year-old Anthony Eugene Whitfield last Wednesday at his girlfriend's house.

Police are asking anyone who may have had sexual relations with Whitfield to contact the prosecutor's office.

Thurston County health officials are offering confidential testing and counseling.

Whitfield is jailed with bail set at a $250,000.
