SEATTLE -- The state auditor's office would like the City of Medina to do a better job of tracking expenses on Police Chief Jeffrey Chen's government-issued credit card.Last month, KIRO Team 7 Investigators reported auditors found $17,663 in questionable police expenditures in less than two years. Since that time, The City of Medina located numerous missing receipts, including several associated with travel expenses for Chief Chen’s trip to Amsterdam for a conference. The final audit says the City of Medina still can’t properly account for more than five-thousand dollars associated with Police Chief Chen’s credit card. State Auditor Brian Sonntag says "The City’s internal controls over procurement card purchases are inadequate and resulted in questionable expenditures."
