KIRO 7 - 50 Golden Years

KIRO 7 50 Golden Years

Since its first broadcast in 1958, KIRO 7 has been in the forefront of Northwest television. The first full-time woman noon news co-anchor. The first in the Northwest to use live mobile units with the revolutionary “instant cam.” The first full-time African-American woman on air. The first to broadcast in the air with its own helicopter. The first in prestigious journalism competitions, among them the Edward R. Murrow, Peabody and duPont awards.

On Saturday, July 26, at 10 p.m. KIRO 7 will take viewers back to these and many other golden moments in its history. Not surprisingly, the program is also a rich retrospective of western Washington's past 50 years: the station’s commitment to excellence in local news gathering is second to none.
