Colorado State Fires Warden As Women's Basketball Coach

POSTED: 7:09 pm PDT March 26, 2008

(Sports Network) - Colorado State University fired Jen Warden as head women's basketball coach Wednesday. Kristen Holt, an assistant on the staff, has been named Warden's successor, effective immediately.

Warden took the reins of the CSU women's program on May 10, 2005 after three seasons at Boise State. She posted a 21-69 record during her time with the Rams, including a 4-28 mark last season.

"Jen and I have been meeting since the end of the season," said director of athletics Paul Kowalczyk. "I felt it was best to take the program in a different direction at this time. We need to chart a new course that will benefit the overall health and long-term welfare of our program."

Holt becomes the 10th head coach in the program's history. She joined the Rams staff as an assistant coach in charge of recruiting efforts and guards in 2007, after holding a similar position at Wichita State for four seasons. She also served as interim head coach at Radford in 2001-02 when she was named the Big South Conference coach of the year.

Kowalczyk and Holt agreed they would evaluate the progress of the program following the 2008-09 season.
