Dodgers Release Veteran Pitcher Seanez

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers released veteran pitcher Rudy Seanez on Tuesday.

Seanez, 39, appeared in 502 games over a 16-year career in the majors, compiling a 36-26 record with a 4.15 earned run average and 12 saves. In 522 2/3 innings, the reliever struck out 544 while allowing 260 walks and 477 hits.

Last season, Seanez appeared in a career-high 73 games for the Dodgers, finishing 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA in 76 innings.

In spring training this season, Seanez battled through a strained groin muscle and recorded a 7.71 ERA.
