Braves Option Slumping Francoeur To Minors

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Braves optioned slumping outfielder Jeff Francoeur to Double-A Mississippi prior to the club's 6-2 win over the Houston Astros.

Francoeur went 0-for-4 against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night, dropping his batting average to .234.

The 24-year-old former first round pick has a .287 on-base percentage and a .374 slugging percentage and batted just .206 in June.

Last season, Francoeur hit .293 with 19 home runs and 105 runs batted in.

To fill the roster spot, the Braves recalled Jason Perry from Triple-A Richmond. In his major-league debut, Perry finished with an RBI triple in the victory.
