(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins take aim at their sixth straight victory this evening when they open a seven-game road trip with the first of three games against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Minnesota completed its nine-game homestand in winning fashion on Sunday, as Carlos Gomez knocked in the go-ahead run as part of a three-run seventh inning, helping the Twins sweep their way past the Cleveland Indians, 4-3, at the Metrodome.

Nick Punto had an RBI single and Brendan Harris added a single and scored the winning run for the Twins, who have won 16 of their last 18 games to move within a game of the Chicago White Sox for first place in the AL Central.

Glen Perkins (5-2) picked up the win, tossing seven solid innings. He allowed three runs on seven hits, while striking out three and walking a batter. Joe Nathan, who was selected to play in the 79th All-Star Game on July 15th at Yankee Stadium, picked up his 25th save of the season.

The Twins, who are just 18-20 on the road this season, have won six of their last eight away from home.

Heading to the hill for the Twins tonight will be righty Scott Baker, who is 5-2 with a 3.65 ERA this season. Baker won his third straight start on Tuesday against Detroit, as he allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings.

Baker will be making his first-ever start against the Red Sox, but has faced them once out of the bullpen, surrendering a run and three hits in three innings.

Boston will counter with Japanese right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka, who is 9-1 with a 3.12 ERA. Matsuzaka received a no-decision on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, despite allowing just a run and two hits in five innings.

Matsuzaka, though, issued five walks in his team's 7-6 loss.

The 27-year-old hurler, who is 5-1 in his seven home starts, defeated the Twins earlier in the year and is 2-0 against them in his young big league career with a 2.40 ERA in two starts.

Boston split its four-game series with the New York Yankees over the weekend, winning the first two contests before dropping the final two, including Sunday's 5-4 setback in 10 innings.

Kevin Youkilis and Sean Casey each had two hits and scored a run for Boston, which wrapped up a 10-game road trip with a mark of 3-7. Dustin Pedroia singled in a pair of runs to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.

Boston starter Tim Wakefield gave up three runs on four hits and struck out five over 6 1/3 innings of a no-decision. Papelbon (3-3) was saddled with the loss after he surrendered his third walk-off hit this season and fifth of his career.

The Twins took three of four from the Red Sox earlier in the season after Boston won four of seven in the season series a year ago.
