SEATTLE -- Boeing is close to announcing more delays in the production of the first 787, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.Sources told the paper that Boeing is facing trouble getting the first plane ready to fly and that the 787 may not make its first flight until June.In an announcement expected before the stock market opens Wednesday morning, Boeing will say it will not be able to complete flight tests in time to deliver planes this year, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.Last year, Boeing said it planned power up by the end of January, the first flight in March and the first delivery by the end of this year. The Wall Street Journal said more delays mean Boeing likely won't meet its goal of delivering 109 planes by the end of 2009, which could cost the company millions of dollars in penalty payments to airlines.Sources told paper that Boeing may not power up the plane's electronics until March. After the power is turned on, it takes two to three months of testing before the first flight.Boeing spokesman Peter Conte told The Associated Press that the company had no comment on the report.
