Mobile Home Owners Being Forced Out

Posted: 5:35 pm PDT October 9, 2006Updated: 5:51 pm PDT October 9, 2006

Dozens of residents face eviction in Snohomish County because many mobile home parks statewide are being sold off to big developers.

State officials estimate statewide by October 2007, 21 mobile home communities will be closed forcing nearly 700 families to move.

More than half of the mobile homes being sold are in Snohomish County.

“The last thing you want do is tear down your own when you don't want to leave, so it feels like somebody's got a gun to our heads and asked to pull the trigger,” mobile home advocate Kylin Parks said.

Parks has successfully rallied residents together and convinced the Housing Authority of Snohomish County to try and buy the property from the developer.
