Investigators Work To Find Cause Of Crane Collapse

Monday, November 20, 2006 – updated: 10:46 am PST November 20, 2006

State investigators are scheduled to meet Monday morning to discuss the probe into a fatal crane collapse in Bellevue.

The State Department of Labor and Industries said it could take up to six months to figure out why the 210-foot crane toppled last Thursday night, crashing down onto three buildings and killing a man.

Investigators interviewed the man at the controls, but said there's no reason to suspect operator error.

Meanwhile, crews are picking up pieces of the fallen crane. A large section was removed from an office building over the weekend.

Buildings damaged in Thursday's accident were reopened over the weekend, but 25 condos in the Pinnacle Bell Centre were condemned.
