Portion Of Park To Remain Undeveloped

Posted: 12:55 pm PST January 13, 2007Updated: 12:57 pm PST January 13, 2007

A forested portion of the 316-acre St. Edward State Park in Kenmore will remain undeveloped.

The seven-member state Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously decided Friday to designate as "natural" one of the last remaining swaths of forest along Lake Washington.

The decision applies to the western side of the park, which contains natural vegetation, trees and dense foliage. The eastern section houses a range of buildings, including a former seminary building and Bastyr University.

The future of the 1931 seminary remains undecided. It's use will be discussed at an April 26 meeting in Quincy.
