Posted: 12:49 pm PST January 30, 2007Updated: 6:19 pm PST January 30, 2007

A trooper helped deliver a baby along an Interstate 5 offramp on Tuesday morning, the third time a trooper helped in a baby's delivery in recent months, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The trooper saw a Toyota 4Runner pulled off to the left shoulder of the Airport Way exit off I-5 near Boeing Field at 8:39 a.m. The driver flagged down the trooper, who found that a woman in the front passenger seat had just given birth to a baby girl.

The trooper helped put the baby on the mother's lap and assisted until Tukwila Fire Department units arrived.

The mom and baby girl are OK at Highline Medical Center.

The patrol said the mother, Wendy Neba, and father, Magin Rodriguez, of Burien, named their daughter Alexa.
