FDA Warns About Buying Accutane Online

Updated: 3:18 pm PDT March 29, 2007

The FDA has issued a warning against buying Accutane online, especially for pregnant women and girls.

It set up a new Web site to warn the public of the potential risks.

Hazards from the acne treatment reportedly include birth defects, miscarriage, premature births and infant mortality.

The FDA also warns of possible side effects such as headaches, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, stroke, diarrhea and muscle weakness.

Accutane is produced by Swiss drugmaker Roche Holding. The drug giant released a statement in support of the FDA warning saying patients should only buy Accutane through its legal distributor IPledge.
