Nephew Of Eastside Woman Shot In Va. Tech Massacre

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- An Eastside woman's whose nephew was among the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting rampage said she hopes his scheduled surgery goes well on Wednesday.Irene Fernandes, a library assistant at Bellevue High School, said she watched on television Monday as police officers carried out her nephew, Colin Goddard, 21.He was in French class when the gunman shot him four times, just before the gunman killed himself."My sister didn't know anything had happened at the university (until) the nurse in the E.R. called and put Colin on the phone," Feranades said. "Physically, he will recover. Emotionally, it's going to take a lot longer."Goddard was shot in the knee, the shoulder and the buttocks.He will have a rod put in his leg during surgery on Wednesday.
