Road Construction Worker Killed On Highway 20

LACONNER, Wash. -- A worker on a Highway 20 road construction project was killed in an accident on Thursday morning, troopers said.
SLIDESHOW: Street Sweeper Hits, Kills WorkerThe worker was killed in a construction zone near Milepost 53 near LaConner at about 8:15 a.m.Transportation Department spokesman Dustin Terpening said the worker was hit by a street sweeper that was backing up.Eastbound lanes of Highway 20 are closed at Milepost 53 and traffic is being detoured.Trooper Kirk Rudeen said workers were preparing the highway for repaving.
