A driver slammed into a downtown Renton antique auction house Monday afternoon after hitting the wrong pedal, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Police said a woman parking her car in front of the store inadvertently hit the gas pedal, causing her car to jump the curb and plow though the business.

The force of the crash shattered glass and knocked down part of a wall, leaving a gaping hole about the size of a car in the building’s front.

The owners of the store said many expensive pieces of furniture and art were destroyed and estimate the damage to be tens of thousands of dollars.

The Mroczek family is repairing the building where they have had their antique auction business for the last 40 years.

Authorities said the driver of the car was an adult woman who just obtained her learner's permit. She was cited for having no insurance.
