Father Arrested In Baby's Death

The 18-year-old father of a 2-month-old baby in Federal Way has been arrested in connection the child's death, police say.

The death of Aidan Andrews was a case of homicide by abuse, police said.

Police said they received a 911 call on Aug. 9, reporting an infant who was not breathing in the 30500 block of Fourth Avenue Southwest in Federal Way.

Federal Way police arrested the man after an investigation that began the infant was airlifted to Children's Hospital a week ago.

Medics arrived and were able to revive the baby before transporting him to the hospital, where he died on Monday.

Investigators said the father was baby sitting the boy when he became angry and started shaking him.

“The infant suffered blunt force injuries to the head, consistent with shaken baby syndrome,” said Stephan Neal of the Federal Way police.

Neighbors said the father was not married to the child’s mother and was living with another woman at the time of the baby's death.

Investigators said the teenage suspect is cooperating and is expected to appear in a King County courtroom Friday.
