Mark Jamieson of the Seattle Police Department said the three injured young people -- the driver and two passengers -- were taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.

Jamieson said the accident occurred after the car had been stopped by Seattle police while it was southbound on Interstate 5. Jamieson says officers were on the lookout for the car, which had been stolen in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

As officers approached the car, it took off at a high rate of speed, but was not being chased by police when it crashed.

The car took Exit 156 into Tukwila and crashed into the light pole. Jamieson said the driver was trapped in the car and had to be freed by the Seattle Police Department. The other four occupants fled the scene, but were taken into custody by police.
