TACOMA, Wash. -- A Stadium High School student was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk Friday morning. The truck fled the scene at South 15th Street and Grant Avenue after striking 15-year-old Michelle Mouton. The incident happened just before 7 a.m. while Mouton was on her way to school. The force of the impact knocked her out of her shoes and threw her about 25 feet.“She wasn’t screaming or nothing. It was just like she was going into shock, so they put a blanket on her because it was really cold,” witness Rodney Jones said.Mouton was transported to a local hospital with a broken leg.‘She’s in pain you know, but it could have been worse,” Mouton’s uncle Kevin McClean said. “I did talk to her. She couldn’t talk that well because she said she was hurting, everything was hurting, she couldn’t feel her toes.”Tacoma police are searching for the driver and said the incident may have been caught on camera.Investigators said the vehicle is a dark-colored pickup truck and likely has front-end damage.“Whoever it is he should turn himself in, he left her for dead actually, and he needs to turn himself in and justify for that,” McClean said.
