Two Drivers Arrested After Speeding In Ferrari

Posted: 3:05 pm PDT October 29, 2007Updated: 4:29 pm PDT October 29, 2007

The Washington State Patrol airplane was working routine patrol on state Route 520 Friday night near Interstate 405 when it spotted a fast-moving car traveling westbound.

The car, a 2005 Ferrari F430 was weaving in and out of traffic using several lanes.

As the Ferrari increased speed on the Evergreen Point floating bridge, the airplane alerted troopers on the ground that the Ferrari was pulling away from them at an extremely high rate of speed.

Troopers on the ground positioned themselves to intercept the car and driver.

As the car proceeded southbound on Interstate 5, it exited on Mercer Street where it was met by several WSP patrol cars.

The Ferrari pulled into a small storage facility and parked.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Monroe, was taken into custody for investigation of reckless driving and DUI. He later refused a breath test and was released.

The passenger of the Ferrari, Kenneth J. Rhule, a 31-year-old Woodinville man, identified himself to troopers as the owner of the car and argued with troopers not to impound his special edition Ferrari.

The car was legally parked on private property allowing Rhule to make the necessary arrangements to have it removed.

A tow truck arrived at the location to assist Rhule , but when Rhule no longer saw any troopers after walking around the vicinity he sent the tow driver on his or her way and climbed behind the wheel of the Ferrari and drove away.

Rhule, however, did not notice the WSP airplane overhead and was stopped by troopers again a few blocks away.

Rhule was arrested on suspicion of DUI and obstructing a police officer after registering a .12 on a breath test.

Rhule was booked into the King County Jail and his Ferrari was impounded.
