Thurston County Families Rescued From Floodwaters

ROCHESTER, Wash. -- Two Mennonite families were rescued by a boat and a Whidbey Naval Air Station helicopter at locations just west of Rochester in Thurston County Tuesday, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.Chopper 7 was above the scene as a woman, a baby and two children were put into a boat from their flooded home and then taken to a waiting chopper.

Video from Chopper 7 showed that same helicopter rescuing another family of four adults after they were transported from their home into a rescue boat.Many of the homes in the area had water as high as their rooftops. The homes are in a rural area. One of the rescued families raises alpacas.
